Easter Cheer

Has Easter seriously already come and gone?  Wasn’t Christmas like four days ago?

Do I sound like I’m 82 years old and complaining how time is going so quickly?

Yes.  Yes, I do.

We had big plans for Easter day and I was determined to not be Debbie Downer like I was last year.  We actually had plans to spend time with some sweet friends who are also without family here.  Hooray for not having to spend a holiday alone!

Trav and I climbed into bed around midnight Saturday night and were both exhausted after spending all day working in the yard and around the house.  No sooner than our heads hit our pillows, Arle woke up crying.

Trav went down to check on her.  As he walked into her room, I heard her say she had “spit up.”

That’s code for  “throw-up.”

Fun times.

I jumped out of bed to go help out and walked in on a disgusting mess.  I won’t go into detail about the “spit up,” but I will say I came very close to spitting up, as well.

Trav put Miss in the bathtub to clean her up.  I went to work on the bed and floor.

We were all back in bed by 12:30.

At 1:13, we started the whole process over again.

Then again at 3:00.

Luckily, that was the last time.

We have no idea if the whole debacle was caused by a bug I had two weeks ago, something she ate, or who knows what, but we decided it wouldn’t be very kind of us to head off to church and risk passing it around to all of Arle’s friends.

Boo for missing church.

We decided that feeding her breakfast would be a good litmus test for whether or not she was out of the spit-up woods.  We basically just wanted to see if she could keep anything down and decide if we should continue with our plans to eat at our friends’ house.

She kept breakfast down and seemed to be her normal chipper self, so off we went.

The rest of the day was fabulous.  Arle was exhausted but had a ball.  Ditto for Trav and me.  Christine made a gourmet meal that I’ll be dreaming of for weeks to come.  Procuitto-wrapped salmon with fontina cheese?  Um, yes please.

Arle and her buddy Cade had their first-ever Easter egg hunt and, don’t be fooled by the serious looks on their sweet lil’ faces, they loved it.  They also had a great time dipping Rice Krispie treat eggs in chocolate and sprinkles. What kid wouldn’t love that?

Here are some pics for your viewing pleasure.

I’m so sorry for the midnight yukkies, but my…what an Easter miracle recovery!! She and Cade looked adorable and I’m so glad she (and y’all) have wonderful friends to share and celebrate fun days with. I miss having little ones around for Easter egg hunts. I have to agree with the other comments about how My Missy looked. Loved the dress and sandals! And her hair turned out fabulous even after a midnight bath and shampoo! And as I said during Spring Break her little facial features are really beginning to change and mature. A Beauty!
