Quotes From The Miss

Lately, Arle has been throwing out some true gems around here.  I know all kids say funny things, but this is the kid that I’m around most often and the kid I most adore, so please allow me to share.

After dinner last Sunday, she wanted Trav and me to play clubhouse with her.  The “clubhouse” is located under our dining room table and surrounded by the dining room chairs.  Like any good hostess would, she had one coloring book and a bunch of Crayons to provide a bit of entertainment for her guests, but the quarters were so cramped that I was having to color with my left hand.  I made some comment about how difficult it was. Arle just shook her head and said, “Mommy, you’re always so confused.”

While driving home from a play-date on Monday, a song came on the radio that, once upon a time, had been our favorite song.  Any time it would play, she used to say, “Listen Mommy, it’s our favorite song!”

When it began playing on Monday, she didn’t say a word, so I took the opportunity to exclaim, “Listen Arle, it’s our favorite song!”

She said, “No, Mommy.  Dat’s not my favorite song.  Rudolph The Red Nosed Reindeer IS my favorite song.”

A couple of Sundays ago, Trav was getting dressed for church and threw on a nicer long-sleeved t-shirt with some jeans (basically the same thing he puts on every evening when he comes home from work).  Arle looked away from Mickey Mouse Clubhouse long enough to critique his outfit and said, “Daddy, you can’t wear that to church.”

Trav said, “Why not?”

She said, “Beetuz doze are your downstairs clothes.”

Trav promptly changed.  We’ve got a two-year-old fashion maven on our hands here folks, and I LOVE it.

Yesterday Arle’s friend Cade was over for a play-date.  He mentioned that his cheek was hurting.  Arle’s response?  “Well, I don’t have hurting cheeks, I have rosy cheeks.”

I’m sure that made him feel SO much better.

So very funny! I try to write down all the adorable things my kids say and do. They have such sweet innocence and can be so darn funny. It is fun to go back and read their quotes. You are creating a treasure here for Arle to read some day. :)
