Dear Santa

The day after Thanksgiving we decided it was high-time for Arle’s annual Santa visit.  Some of you may remember how fond she was of Santa last year and understand why Trav and I weren’t expecting her to go anywhere near him.

Despite the fact that she had missed her nap last Friday and was a prime candidate for a melt-down, the adventurer in me just couldn’t resist giving it a try.  Arle had been talking a big game about how she was going to hug Santa and talk to him and far be it from me to crush a girl’s dreams.

Unless, of course, those dreams involve dogs.

I digress.

So, off we went to Crown Center to wait in a ginormous line.  After approximately 45 min. of waiting, Trav was over it and wanted to bail.  It didn’t help that my dad sneaked back to get a peek at Santa and informed Trav that we had only made it 1/2 way through the line and that Santa looked like he was dying of some sort of infectious disease.

I fought back and convinced him that we should stick around by saying something like, “Fine.  Let’s go.  But you’re going to be the one to tell Arle that she doesn’t get to see Santa after all.  Go ahead tell her.  I dare you.”

After a really, really, really, really long time, our turn came.  Trav and I braced ourselves for the worst.  We just knew she would crack under all the pressure when it was time to actually meet Santa face to face.  We fully expected tears and screams and her clinging to our necks for dear life.

But then this happened.

Yes, she was telling him all sorts of very important things and answering all of his questions. It was hilarious. Plus, she was pretty much rubbing on his beard and the fuzzy white stuff on his suit the ENTIRE time. Gross.
